Overview

The Assets Tab in the Cashflow module integrates data from the Assets Section in AdviserLogic, providing a detailed view of a client’s asset portfolio. It categorises assets systematically to ensure clarity and ease of management.

Access

To access the Cashflow 2.0 Assets tab, open a client record, hover over the Cashflow tab, and select Cashflow 2.0 from the drop-down menu.

Open an existing Scenario or create a new one by selecting the blue+ button, entering a Scenario Name, and ticking the available setup options.

The Cashflow 2.0 landing page will open on the Cash Accounts tab in the overall position if the client is partnered, and within each individual entity as well.

Select the Assets Tab, which is the second tab in the sequence of available options.

The Overall Position provides a unified system for managing cash flow for both the Client and Partner.

By consolidating income, expenses, and transactions into a single sheet, it simplifies tracking for multiple income streams and superannuation. This approach allows for efficient management of surpluses and deficits while supporting shared financial goals.

The centralised system enhances financial planning by making monitoring, analysing, and optimising cash management easier.

You can view individual values for the ClientPartnerSMSF, or any Business or Trust entities, and their Superannuation Accounts by selecting options from the drop-down menu.

📌Note

If the client is unpartnered all the options will be available from the main sheet, and additional entities such as Trusts or Businesses will be found within the dropdown

This allows you to isolate and analyse specific financial data for each entity, ensuring a clear and detailed understanding of their contributions and cashflow dynamics.

Asset Categories

The Asset Categories available within the Assets Tab correspond directly to those found in the Assets Section of AdviserLogic. These categories are displayed in the left-hand column of the Assets Tab, providing a clear and structured view of all asset types. This alignment ensures consistency and simplifies navigation, allowing you to easily identity, manage and analyse assets.

Investment Portfolio

Includes assets from the Assets Section with the following categories:

  • Bank Deposits (where the Term Deposit checkbox is checked).

  • Managed Funds.

  • Australian Shares.

  • Custom Products.

  • Other Assets (where the Lifestyle Asset checkbox is unchecked).

The total of these asset classes forms the balance of the Investment Portfolio

Family Home

Displays assets classified as Family Home in the Assets Section.

Investment Property

Shows properties added as Investment Properties in the Assets Section.

Each property is displayed separately for detailed tracking.

Personal Assets

Includes assets categorised under Other Assets in the Assets Section, where the Lifestyle Assets checkbox is checked.

Fact Find Data Accuracy

Maintaining accurate and complete Fact Find data is essential for generating precise financial reports, projections, and recommendations. Particular attention should be given to critical data points, such as the Date of Birth for both the Client and their Partner.

Accurate Date of Birth information is essential for ensuring precise age-dependent calculations, regulatory compliance and reliable scenario modelling

Ensure all Fact Find fields are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the most current and correct information. This practice reduces the risk of miscalculations, and enhances the quality of financial advice.

Grouping of Asset Classes

Some asset classes are grouped, and their cumulative balances are displayed in the Cashflow section.

Calculation of Asset Rates

The Income, Growth, Franked Income, and Tax-Free Rates for assets are determined by the Risk Profile entered in Fact-Find > Risk Profile. Rates set for the chosen Risk Profile are automatically applied.

Adjusting Asset Rates

There are two ways that rates can be modified once the scenario has been created:

  • Edit the Scenario

  • Input directly to the Cashflow Scenario

Edit the Risk Profile

To change the Risk Profile, from the Scenario screen, hover over the three-line menu at the top right of the window, and select Edit Scenario from the drop-down options.

Use the Risk Profile drop-down to pick a previously created risk profile.

Input via Cashflow Scenario

To change the risk profile associated with an investment right-click on the investment and select Edit.

From the edit screen, choose the previously created risk profile from the dropdown.

Selling Assets

Right-click on the asset and choose Redemption > Partial Redemption/Full Redemption.

Select Create New from the redemption window.

Select Partial from the Redemption Type drop-down field.

Enter the amount, and specify the year and the growth for the partial sale.

Enter the Period - in years - for a recurring redemption - and Save.

The redemption will show in the Asset Redemption row for the number of years you have assigned.

Sale Proceeds

Sale proceeds are reflected as Inflows in the Cash Account sheet.

📌Note

Capital Gains Tax is calculated based on the Cost Base entered for the asset and the Redemption Amount.

Entering the Cost Base

Right-click on the asset, and select Edit Asset.

Enter the Cost Base in the designated field, and Save.

Additional Investments

To make additional investments in an asset, right-click on the asset and select Additional Investment.

Select Create New from the Additional Investment Window.

Specify the Amount, and Start Year, and choose whether the investment is a one-off or recurring over some time by selecting the options available in the Till drop-down, and Save.

The additional investments will now show in the Additional Investment row

Adding New Assets in Cashflow

Add new assets directly from the Cashflow Section using the Plus+ button from the bottom right of the Assets Tab.

You can also add additional assets by selecting the Add button in the top right of the scenario, regardless of which tab you happen to be working in.

📌Note

New assets added here appear as an Expense in the Cash Account sheet, as funds are considered withdrawn for the asset purchase.

Existing Asset Toggle

If you don’t want the purchase of an asset to affect the Cash Account sheet, enable the Existing toggle when entering the asset in the Assets tab.

Excluding Personal Assets for Age Pension

To exclude Personal Assets from Age Pension calculations, right-click on the asset, select Edit Asset, and adjust the Age Pension field.
