Overview
AdviserLogic now supports pricing for International Securities and Exchange Traded Funds, including both shares and ETFs.
This feature is designed to improve investment reporting for holdings received through platform data feeds.
If your clients’ portfolios include these assets, often through an SMA arrangement, you will now see accurate valuations at both the asset and portfolio level.
Historical unit prices are also available, converted to Australian dollars.
How it Works
Historically, when AdviserLogic received an unrecognised asset through a data feed, the system created a Custom Product so you could manually maintain the unit price and asset allocation.
For International Securities, this workflow remains the same, with an added improvement. AdviserLogic now automatically updates the daily unit price and currency-adjusted asset allocation for both new and existing holdings that come through the feed.
There is no setup required on your part. These investments will appear in the Assets screen with Category: Custom Product and Type: International Security.
The Ticker and Exchange details will be displayed within the asset pop-up.
How to Add Manually
Although this feature is primarily designed to ensure that international assets received through portfolio data feeds are displayed accurately in AdviserLogic, you can also choose to manually add an international security holding.
Scenario 1 – You want to add a holding for an international share that already exists in AdviserLogic, either because it was created automatically from a data feed or added manually in another portfolio.
Method: Open the Assets screen, create a new Custom Product, then select the international share you need from the available list.
Scenario 2 – You want to add a holding for an international share that has not been created in AdviserLogic before.
Method: Start by setting up the asset in Tools, following the steps shown below, then add it to the portfolio using the same process described in Method 1. Please be aware that in this case, the unit price will not populate until the next day.
Go to Tools > Administrative Tools > Product Setup > Custom Products > Add New
Enter the Ticker, Product Name and Exchange Code for the international security you want to set up as a Custom Product. The Product Name does not need to be exact, as the system will update it with the official name once pricing data is received. Select Save to complete the setup.
📌Note
International securities will flow through AdviserLogic’s modules in the same way as any other asset.
For existing custom products (that didn’t come through a data feed), if you update the exchange and ticker, price, data will flow as described above.
