Withdrawing from Super to invest in Non-Super

Learn how to withdraw from super to reinvest in non super using Digital Advice Investment scenarios

Overview

We have enhanced the Buy/Sell Investments, and the Investment Rebalance strategies to allow you to sell superannuation assets and purchase investment assets, allowing you greater flexibility and control when creating advice.

Access

Select the Rebalance or Buy/Sell Investments strategy under Investment strategies on the Strategy Selection screen and Proceed.

Buy/Sell Strategy

Once you have applied the Goals, and proceeded to the strategy, you will see the client’s Investments and Super, divided into sections.

To sell down superannuation investments, you first have to apply the Condition for Release by selecting this from the dropdown, in the top right corner of the superannuation tile. You can choose from:

- Retirement

- Reaching Preservation Age

- Permanent Incapacity

- Terminal Medical Condition

- Severe Financial Hardship

- Compassionate Grounds

Enter the amount to release in the Sell column. Once you click outside the field, the asset will be sold. The transaction will then appear on the right side of the window under the Summary section. The Remaining Amount displays how much is available for reinvestment, from the total asset sales.

Once you have sold all the assets required for the recommendation, you can apply the released funds to the scenario by adding the amount in the Buy column to reinvest in existing assets or by selecting New Asset to invest in additional assets.

Each transaction will show in the right Summary section as a Green line item, indicating a purchase. The remaining amount must be zero in order to proceed to the next section.

📌Note

The Buy column for superannuation assets is disabled in this section. You may only purchase investment assets from this strategy. To sell and purchase super assets please use the Superannuation strategies.

Select Proceed to Review to review the recommendations.

The overview of your recommendations will be displayed in the Review tile. You can review sold and bought assets by toggling the Sell/Buy buttons. Additionally, you can select the pencil icon to make edits to the recommendation.

Once satisfied with the recommendation, you can proceed to the next strategy or complete the scenario.

Rebalance Portfolio

Once you have applied the Goals, and proceeded to the strategy, you will see the client’s Investments within the Rebalance Portfolio screen. To access the client super investments, select the Addition to Portfolio button.

You can now access the client’s superannuation assets from the Addition to Portfolio window.

To sell down superannuation investments, you first have to apply the Condition for Release by selecting this from the dropdown, in the top right corner of the superannuation tile. You can choose from:

Once you have released all the superannuation assets needed for the strategy, select the Add button from the top right of the window.

The released funds will show under the Remaining Amount in the portfolio rebalance screen.

The Available Amount shows the Portfolio Total + Remaining Amount

The breakdown for the released super assets can be seen by hovering over the Information icon next to the Available Amount.

You can further release funds from existing investments or redistribute the released funds by following the standard Portfolio Rebalance steps. This includes balancing all funds by selecting the Rebalance button, choosing the Underlying Investments + button, or using the Model Portfolio/SMA dropdown.

To proceed to the next stage the remaining Amount must be zero. Select Proceed to Fees to advance to the Fees screen.

Once you have assured the fees are correct select Proceed to Review.

The review screen will show the added funds along with a summary of the redistributed funds. You can edit the recommendation by selecting the Pencil icon.

Once satisfied with the recommendation, you can proceed to the next strategy or complete the scenario.
