Overview

AdviserLogic’s Digital Advice Builder is your central workspace for constructing tailored, compliant Statements of Advice (SoA) and Records of Advice (RoA). It seamlessly brings together client data, advice strategies, fee disclosures, and document generation—all within a structured, guided workflow.

The Advice Builder adapts dynamically to the strategy you select, offering a mix of editable templates, calculation tools, and integrations with other AdviserLogic modules like the Fact Find, Cashflow Modelling, and Research Tools.

This article outlines how each screen in the Advice Builder functions and explains how different strategy types interact with those screens to create efficient and client-focused advice.

🧩 Strategy Integration with Advice Builder Screens

There are two core types of strategies in AdviserLogic Digital Advice, and both interact with the builder screens in different ways:

Strategy Type

Description

Interaction with Builder

Advice Flow

Guided, calculation-based strategy with structured inputs.

Triggers dynamic fields, automated projections, and research tools embedded in the builder workflow.

Custom Strategy

Pre-filled editable text tailored to a specific scenario.

Loads as a formatted template in the Strategy Text screen for you to personalise.

🧱 Advice Builder Screens Explained

Here’s how the major screens in the Digital Advice Builder work.

Access

To access the Scenario Setup screen, navigate to the Digital Advice tab from within a client’s record.

You can either:

  • Hover over the Digital Advice tab and select Scenarios from the dropdown, or

  • Select the Digital Advice tab directly, then choose Scenarios from the Digital Advice landing page.

This will open the Scenario screen

If you have no existing scenarios the scenario screen will show a series of steps and an add new scenario button along the bottom of the window.

If scenarios have previously been created for the client, you will see them displayed as individual tiles across the screen.

Select the  Scenario button from the top-left corner of the window to create a new scenario.

You will navigate to the Scenario Setup screen.

🖥️ Scenario Setup Screen

From the Scenario Setup screen you can define the advice objective.

Choose the Client or Joint Advice

Select whether the advice is for an individual client or both members of a couple.

  • Client: Generates advice for the selected individual only

  • Joint: Creates a combined strategy applicable to both the client and their partner, with each of their financial positions individually assessed to ensure tailored recommendations.

Select SoA or RoA

Choose the type of document you wish to produce:

  • Statement of Advice (SoA): Typically used for comprehensive or initial advice

  • Record of Advice (RoA): Used for ongoing or scaled advice, where the basis of the advice has not significantly changed

Link to Client Goals

You can then link the advice to existing goals captured in the client's Fact Find. This ensures the strategy remains focused and relevant, while also improving traceability and alignment with best-interest obligations.

📌Note

You may choose to skip this step if goal linking is not required for the current strategy.

This setup ensures the advice scenario is properly configured before selecting strategies or drafting content.

Select Proceed to Scope from the bottom right of the window to proceed to the Strategy Selection Screen.

Each strategy has its own specific setup and usage instructions. For detailed guidance, refer to the Strategy Instructions for the relevant strategy.

Once all strategy screens have been completed, you will navigate to the final screens:

📝 Review

The Review Screen in AdviserLogic’s Digital Advice module provides a final summary of your strategy before proceeding to generate or edit the advice document.

💡Tip

Hover over the strategy tile to access the edit and preview options

The Review Screen is designed to give you a high-level summary of the advice components configured within the strategy.

It acts as your last checkpoint before moving on to the next strategy or Disclosure page — allowing you to verify, refine, and confirm the details of your advice before it is finalised and delivered to the client.

🔎 What You Can Do on the Review Screen

  • Verify Client and Strategy Details
ensure the correct client or joint clients are selected and that the recommendations are appropriately assigned.

  • Edit Strategies
If needed, you can return to the strategy screen to adjust your recommendations or remove any that no longer apply.

  • Preview Before Generating
Use the Preview option to review formatting, structure, and wording before generating the advice and sending it to the client.

  • Add a Written Summary Note – Use the Summary of Advice field to input a tailored explanation that supports the investment recommendations and reflects client objectives

  • Proceed to Disclosure & Fees or the next Strategy – Navigate directly to the Disclosure step to finalise fee details and complete the advice. If you have multiple strategies selected you can navigate to these from this screen.

💡 Tip

If you notice an error or omission at this stage, you can easily return to the relevant screen using the navigation panel—no need to restart the process.

💼 Disclosure & Fees Screen

The Disclosure & Fees screen is the final step before finishing the advice, and is designed to document and communicate the financial terms associated with your advice, ensuring clarity and compliance in your client interactions.

⚙️ Key Actions

  • Set Portfolio Advice Fee: Button in the upper right to assign or edit the fee structure tied to the selected portfolio.

  • Restore Defaults: Quickly reverts the fee structure to the original settings if needed.

  • Save & Preview: Allows you to view how fees will appear in the advice document.

  • Finish Advice: Located bottom right, completes the advice flow once all data has been reviewed and confirmed.

Manually entered direct fees can be added using the ➕ icon next to either Upfront or Ongoing Fees in the Advice Disclosure screen.

This structured screen is divided into two main sections:

💰 Upfront Fees (Left Panel)

This section captures any initial or once-off fees associated with implementing the advice.

  • Total Upfront Fees: Displays the combined upfront cost.

  • Adviser Split & AFSL Split: Indicates how the fee is split between the adviser and the licensee.

  • Advice Fees / Other Fees: You can add itemised fees under each category using the ➕ icon.

🔁 Ongoing Fees (Right Panel)

This section outlines recurring fees associated with ongoing advice or portfolio management.

  • Total Ongoing Fees: Shows the annual fee total.

  • Adviser & AFSL Split: Breakdown of fee allocation.

  • Advice Fees: Lists investments/products the fee applies to (e.g. SMAs, platforms).

  • Other Fees: Add additional recurring charges not linked to a product.

📌Note

  • Fee entries display by client and product name, along with individual fee amounts.

  • The system auto-pulls some fee defaults from the adviser's profile. These can be adjusted as needed for each scenario.

Navigate to Digital Advice Settings to set the defaults for AFSL Fee Splits Ongoing, Upfront fees to ensure consistency.

To support consistency and clarity in your advice documents, we recommend that your practice establish a standardised set of keywords to be used in fee descriptions.

These keywords help ensure that fees are displayed correctly in the Statement of Advice (SoA) under the Cost of My Advice heading. Adopting a clear and consistent naming convention for ad hock direct fees ensures your fees are presented professionally and avoids confusion during client reviews or audits.

Fees applied via a Fee Structure on a portfolio will continue to display in the Investment Advice Fees Table.

Set Portfolio Advice Fee

The Set Portfolio Advice Fee button, located in the upper-right corner of the Advice Disclosure–Fees screen, allows you to assign or edit the fee structure tied to the selected portfolio.

Selecting this button opens a configuration panel where you can:

  • Choose from existing fee structures: Select from your practice’s predefined fee structures that align with your service offer.

  • Create and apply a structure to the entire portfolio: Ensure consistent ongoing or upfront fees are attributed to each recommended investment product or platform.

Once applied, these structured fees appear in the Investment Advice Fees table on the in the advice document as product-linked fees.

📌Note

To ensure accurate and compliant disclosure, always confirm the applied fee structure matches the services agreed with your client.

👁 Document Review & Preview

To review and edit the final advice document before finalising, select Save & Preview from the top-right corner of any builder screen.

This will open a working SoA or RoA in the editable document editor slide out, allowing you to refine the content before completion.
