Platform Features Research in Digital Advice Tools
The Platform Features Research tool in AdviserLogic’s Digital Advice Tools allows you to compare and evaluate the key features of various investment platforms to determine the best fit for your client’s needs.
Platform Features Research Functions
Compare Platform Features: Assess platform functionality, reporting tools, transaction capabilities, and account management options.
Identify Strengths & Limitations: Evaluate how different platforms support investment strategies, administration efficiency, and client engagement.
Review Investment Accessibility: Check available investment types such as managed funds, direct shares, ETFs, and fixed interest products.
Assess Additional Services: Analyse platform-provided extras, including adviser tools, automated rebalancing, and compliance reporting.
Integration with Digital Advice Scenarios
Your platform feature research can be used to support recommendations in Digital Advice Scenarios, ensuring consistency between research and advice documentation.
This tool enables you to make informed, client-focused decisions, ensuring platform recommendations align with your client's investment goals and service expectations.
Access
From a client account, navigate to Digital Advice > Advice Tools > Platform Research to access the Platform Feature Comparison screen.
If platforms for your holdings haven't been mapped previously, you will be prompted to map them when the Platform Feature Research window opens.
Choose a platform from the Platform Dropdown.
Some Platforms will be mapped automatically

You can also map the platforms at any stage via the the dots menu
Client Selection
From the top left of the Platform Feature Research window, choose the Client, Partner, Joint, or Other Entity the research is for using the drop-down menu.
Fee Comparison Screen
Along the top of the screen, you can view the selected client’s existing platform investments for comparison, along with the option to add additional platforms to compare features.
Create a feature comparison based on the existing platforms using a Like-for-Like approach.
To add additional platforms to the comparison, select the Add Platforms button and choose the desired platform from the drop-down menu.
If the client has multiple existing funds, you can compare their features side by side.
The comparison will show the different features along the columns and rows.
Platform Feature Comparison Fields
The following table outlines the key Platform Feature Comparison fields and their descriptions. These criteria help evaluate investment platforms based on their capabilities, accessibility, and suitability for client needs.
Investment Options | Number of multi-manager options | Number of investment options managed by multiple fund managers. |
| Number of diversified options | Total diversified investment choices available. |
| Number of sector options | Investment options available within specific industry sectors. |
| Maximum number of investment options that can be selected | The highest number of investments a client can hold within the platform. |
| Number of single-manager options | Total investment options managed by a single fund manager. |
| Number of total investment options | Overall number of investments, including managed funds and listed securities. |
| Number of SRI/ESG options | Sustainable, Responsible, and ESG-compliant investment options. |
Miscellaneous | Ability to deduct third-party adviser fees | Whether the platform allows adviser fees to be deducted from the client’s account balance. |
| Ability to process corporate actions in bulk | Whether corporate actions like dividends and rights issues can be processed in bulk. |
| Cooling-off rights available | If the platform provides a period where investments can be cancelled without penalty. |
Fund Details | Public offer fund | Indicates if the platform is publicly available or restricted to certain users. |
| Product Name | The name of the platform product. |
| Admin system/platform | The administration system managing the platform. |
| Website address | The official website for platform access and information. |
| Minimum withdrawal | The smallest amount a client can withdraw from the platform. |
| Open/Closed | Indicates whether the platform is open for new investments. |
| Wrap or Master Trust | Identifies whether the platform operates as a Wrap account or a Master Trust. |
Services | Brokerage service available | Whether a brokerage service is included for buying and selling assets. |
| Cash Management Account available | Whether the platform provides a cash management account. |
| Family fee rebate available | If clients can receive fee discounts when multiple family members invest through the platform. |
| Rebalancing available | Whether automated portfolio rebalancing is offered. |
| Trust account ownership | Whether the platform supports investment under a trust structure. |
Investment Class | Access to Bonds | Whether bond investments are available. |
| Access to Listed Securities | If clients can invest directly in ASX or other listed shares. |
| Access to Managed Funds | Whether the platform provides access to managed investment funds. |
| Access to Term Deposits | If clients can invest in term deposits through the platform. |
| Ready-made funds available | Availability of pre-built diversified investment portfolios. |
Contributions | Minimum Additional Investment | The minimum additional amount that can be invested. |
| Minimum Balance in Cash Account | The minimum balance required in the platform’s cash account. |
| Minimum Initial Deposit | The minimum initial amount required to open an investment. |
| Minimum Regular Investment | The smallest recurring investment amount allowed (e.g., monthly, quarterly). |
| Minimum Trade Size | The smallest trade size permitted when buying or selling investments. |
These fields provide a structured comparison of investment platforms, helping you assess their features, costs, and investment capabilities before making a recommendation.
Remove Platform
To remove an existing or added platform, hover over the Platform column and select the Remove button to delete it from the comparison.
Download PDS
To download the PDS for a platform, hover over the platform name and select the Download button that appears.

You can download a PDS if it is available in AdviserLogic.
Our team regularly reviews and updates the latest PDS documents.

Toolbar
The toolbar in the top right corner provides various functions to enhance your research. Below is a breakdown of available options:
💾Save | Saves your Feature Comparison Research for future reference. |
📚Copy | Once you have saved your advice this option will show allowing you to duplicate the research |
Exports a detailed comparison report for documentation and analysis. | |
🔄️Reset | Resets values to those available in the Fact Find for accuracy. |
Opens additional options for further research tools: → Map Platform - Assigns platform details to ensure correct comparison. → Product Detail List Download - Downloads a comprehensive list of platform product details. |
These options help you efficiently manage, refine, and document your Platform Feature Research in AdviserLogic.
Save
Selecting the Save Icon allows you to save your comparison for future reference.
A window will open where you can enter the Research Name to save your Feature Comparison Research for future reference.
Once saved, the comparison can be found under the tiles on the Advice Tools Home page .
Copy
Once you have saved your research, this option will show, allowing you to duplicate the research for variations or further analysis.
Download
The Download button allows you to download a comprehensive features comparison report in DOCX or PDF format to your download folder.
Reset
Use the Reset button to reset the comparison to default values as available in Fact Find.
︙Three Dots Menu
Map Platforms
Select Map Investment Platforms from the three dots menu (︙) to manually assign investment platforms. Some platforms will be mapped automatically, while others may require manual mapping.
Product Detail List
You can download the product details by selecting the three dots menu (︙) and choosing Product Detail List.
The Product Detail List is an Excel spreadsheet containing comprehensive data on investment products, including funds, ETFs, and platforms. This list provides essential details to help compare and analyze different investment options.
Name | The name of the investment fund or ETF. |
Platform | The investment platform associated with the product. |
APIR Code | The unique identifier for the investment product. |
Firm Name | The financial institution offering the product. |
Advisor | The entity managing or distributing the investment. |
Investment Type | The type of investment, such as a managed fund, ETF, or insurance fund. |
Morningstar Category | The classification of the investment based on its sector and investment strategy. |
Central Menu Options
The Central Menu provides key functionalities to help manage and navigate your research efficiently.
Navigate Between Research Modules | Switch between different research modules within AdviserLogic. |
Change Research Name | Edit and update the name of your research for better organisation. |
These options streamline research management, making it easier to access, modify, and navigate your platform research.
Navigation Menu
At the top middle of the research window, you will find the Navigation Panel, which allows you to seamlessly move between different Advice Tools.
Easily switch to the next type of research for your client once the current research is complete.

Tools that are currently active will be highlighted in blue and marked with a tick symbol ✔
This feature ensures a smooth workflow, allowing you to progress through various research modules efficiently.
Edit Research Name
You can change the name of your saved research by selecting the pencil edit icon located under the navigation tools in the top middle of the research window. This allows you to update and organise your research for better identification and reference.
