Overview

Investment Fee Comparison in AdviserLogic’s Digital Advice Tools

Understanding and comparing investment fees is crucial for making informed financial recommendations. AdviserLogic’s Digital Advice Tools provide a comprehensive Investment Fee Comparison feature, allowing you to easily analyse and compare fees across different investment platforms and products.

With AdviserLogic’s Investment Fee Comparison, you can easily assess investment costs, helping clients make informed decisions while ensuring their portfolio remains cost-effective and aligned with their financial goals.



Access

To access the Platform Fees Comparison, navigate to Digital Advice from a client record, then go to Advice Tools > Platform Fees to open the Platform Fee Comparison screen.


Platform Mapping

If platforms for your holdings haven't been mapped previously, you will be prompted to map them when the Platform Fee Research window opens.

Choose a platform from the Platform Dropdown.

Some platforms will be mapped automatically.

💡 Tip

You can also map platforms at any stage via the three-dot menu at the top right of the research window.


Client Selection

From the top left of the Platform Fees Research window, select the client, partner, joint, or entity the research is for using the drop-down menu.



Fee Comparison Screen

Along the top of the screen, you can view the selected client’s existing platform investments for comparison, along with the option to add additional platforms to compare fees.



Create a Like-for-Like comparison based on the editable comparison amount to accurately assess platform fees. If needed, you can reset the amount back to the default value for consistency in analysis.

📢 Default Comparison Amount in Platform Fees Research

  • Automatically Set – The comparison amount equals the sum of the client or partner’s existing platform investment balances.

  • Source of Data – Pulled from the Assets section (Superannuation balances are not included).

  • Check for Accuracy – If the balance is incorrect, review the Assets section or confirm the data feed is up to date.

🚧Note

Zero Balance in Comparison Amount

If the Comparison Amount is set to zero, the Underlying Investments stage will not function. This means the "Add Underlying Investments" button will not appear, and there will be no balance available to allocate to a Model Portfolio. To proceed with the fee comparison, ensure the Comparison Amount reflects a valid balance before moving to the next stage.

Add Platforms

To add additional platforms for comparison, select the Add Platforms button from the drop-down menu or compare fees across existing platforms if the client has multiple funds.


Once the platform has been added for comparison, you can add underlying investments or a model portfolio with the remaining balance.


The comparison will show the differences in fees along the columns and rows. Selecting Details will show a breakdown of Investment Fees and costs. Clickable fields are customisable.

Platform Fee Comparison Fields

The following table outlines the key Platform Fee Comparison fields and their descriptions. These criteria help evaluate investment platforms based on their capabilities, accessibility, and suitability for client needs.

Ongoing Fees

Regular costs associated with maintaining an investment platform.

Fixed Admin Fee

A flat fee charged by the platform provider for administration.

Percentage-Based Admin Fee

A percentage-based administration fee applied to the total investment.

Expense Recovery Fee

Fees charged by the provider to recover platform operational costs.

Cash Account Fee

Charges associated with holding funds in a platform-linked cash account.

Investment Fees & Costs

Costs related to the underlying investments within the platform.

Brokerage Fee

Transaction costs incurred when buying or selling investments.

Portfolio Management Fee

Fees associated with professional portfolio management services.

Contribution Fee

Charges applied when contributing funds to an investment.

Custody-Holding Fee

Fees related to asset safekeeping and administration.

Exit Fee

A fee incurred when withdrawing funds from an investment.

Switching Fee

Charges for transferring investments within the platform.

Transaction Fee

Fees associated with individual trades or investment transactions.

Asset Transfer Fee

Costs incurred when transferring assets between platforms.

Withdrawal Fee

Charges applied when taking money out of an investment.

Settlement Fee

Fees for processing and settling investment transactions.

Establishment Fee

A one-time charge for opening a new investment account.

These fields provide a structured comparison of investment platforms, helping you assess their fees, costs, and overall expense structures, ensuring transparency and alignment with client goals before making a recommendation.

Fee Aggregation

Hover over the platform and select the Fee Aggregation button that appears to access the Fee Aggregation controls.

This feature allows you to manage tiered fee structures for supported investment products, ensuring accurate fee calculations.

Remove Platform

To remove an existing or added platform, hover over the Platform column and select the Remove button to delete it from the comparison.

Download PDS

To download the PDS for a platform, hover over the platform name and select the Download button that appears.

You can download a PDS if it is available in AdviserLogic.
Our team regularly reviews and updates the latest PDS documents.

Toolbar

The toolbar in the top right corner provides various functions to enhance your research. Below is a breakdown of available options:

💾 Save

Saves your Feature Comparison Research for future reference.

📚 Copy

Once you have saved your research, this option will allow you to duplicate the research for variations or further analysis.

⬇️ Download Comparison Report

Exports a comprehensive comparison report for documentation and analysis.

🔄 Reset

Resets values to those available in Fact Find for accuracy.

(⋮)Three Dots Menu

Opens additional options for further research tools:

  • Map Platform – Assigns platform details to ensure correct comparison.

  • Product Detail List Download – Downloads a comprehensive list of platform product details.

These options help you efficiently manage, refine, and document your Platform Feature Research in AdviserLogic.

Save

Selecting the Save icon allows you to save your comparison for future reference.

A window will open where you can enter the Research Name to save your Fee Comparison Research for future reference.

Once saved, the comparison can be found under the tiles on the Advice Tools Home page.

Copy

Once you have saved your research, this option will allow you to duplicate the research for variations or further analysis.

Download

The Download button allows you to download a comprehensive fee comparison report in DOCX or PDF format to your download folder.

Reset

Use the Reset button to reset the comparison to default values as available in Fact Find.

︙Three Dots Menu

Map Platforms

Select Map Investment Platforms from the three dots menu (︙) to manually assign investment platforms.

Some platforms will be mapped automatically, while others may require manual mapping.

Product Detail List

You can download the product details by selecting the three dots menu (︙) and choosing Product Detail List.

The Product Detail List is an Excel spreadsheet containing comprehensive data on investment products, including funds, ETFs, and platforms. This list provides essential details to help compare and analyze different investment options.

Central Menu Options

The Central Menu provides key functionalities to help manage and navigate your research efficiently.

  • Navigate Between Research Modules - Switch between different research modules within AdviserLogic.

  • Change Research Name - Edit and update the name of your research for better organization.

These options streamline research management, making it easier to access, modify, and navigate your Platform Fee Research.

Navigation Menu

At the top middle of the research window, you will find the Navigation Panel, which allows you to seamlessly move between different Advice Tools.

Easily switch to the next type of research for your client once the current research is complete.

📌 Note

Tools that are currently active will be highlighted in blue and marked with a tick symbol ✔.

This feature ensures a smooth workflow, allowing you to progress through various research modules efficiently.

Edit Research Name

You can change the name of your saved research by selecting the pencil edit icon located under the navigation tools in the top middle of the research window. This allows you to update and organize your research for better identification and reference.
