Overview
The Digital Advice Template Designer in AdviserLogic allows you to create, edit, and manage your own advice document templates without relying on external support. This feature gives you greater control over the structure, content, and styling of your Statement of Advice (SoA) and Record of Advice (RoA) documents, helping you deliver consistent, compliant, and personalised client outcomes.
For example, you can update footer images or add explanatory text to specific sections of your SOA templates, providing a more tailored client experience.
With Template Designer, you can tailor templates to suit your practice’s branding and advice approach while maintaining alignment with AdviserLogic’s standard templates and updates.
Template Designer
To provide advisers more freedom and control over their templates, after the successful BETA testing phase, have extended the Template Designer functionality for all users, reducing the dependency of advisers on the AdviserLogic team to get smaller pieces of work done in their templates.
There are three different access levels available:
AFSL: Allows the creation and editing of templates at the AFSL level, which can then be shared with practices under that AFSL.
Practice: Allows view-only access to any shared templates (AFSL or AdviserLogic standard), as well as creation and modification of private templates that will then be available to that practice only.
Consultants: For third party providers who work with multiple practices on their template designs.
Features of Template Designer
Template Operations: Users can create new, modify, or delete existing templates. Please note that these operations will be possible on the templates controlled by the AFSL/Practice including copies (‘child’ version) of AdviserLogic standard templates.
For instance, users can replace footer images or add firm-specific explanatory text to sections like Ongoing Fee Arrangement/Further Advice and Service.
AFSL Template Sharing: An AFSL can share/remove a new or existing template from its respective practice’s access.
Foundation Coding: Users will have access to common field codes and a Design Library to support template automation.
AFSL or AdviserLogic Master Template Updates: Any practice with a linked ‘child’ version of an AFSL or Morningstar AdviserLogic template will be prompted to receive updates and will have the control to implement those updates with just a few clicks. This may include new product enhancement content, legislative changes, and other uplifted content.
Customization Examples
Editing and Replacing Footer Images
If you are using a custom SOA template and need to update the footer image, follow these steps:
Open the template designer in AdviserLogic.
Locate the footer section. This may require using the 'header and footer' option.
Delete the existing footer image.
Use the 'add new image' option to upload your new footer image.
Use the pencil (edit) option to modify the footer image as needed.
Note: If the footer is part of the locked design in a base template, it cannot be edited. You will need to create a custom template for such changes.
Adding Text to SOA Sections
To add firm-specific explanatory text to the Ongoing Fee Arrangement/Further Advice and Service section of an SOA, you can update the Service Levels in AdviserLogic. Here’s how:
Navigate to Tools > Practice Management > Categories > FOFA Service Level.
Add or adjust the relevant service level text.
Important Notes:
This method adds text to the bullet list in the section, not as separate paragraphs.
For broader template wording changes, you must request updates from your AFSL.
If your generated SOA shows outdated references but the previewed template does not, it may be due to external editing after generation. Regenerate or preview the SOA in AdviserLogic to verify the content.
Important Points to Consider
As part of the current release, we are limiting access to text editing and styling only. While coding will be visible inside the tool, we will not be providing detailed training on coding at this stage.
Base templates are locked and cannot be edited, whereas custom templates offer flexibility for modifications, including structural updates with AFSL approval.
Whilst we have made every effort to ensure the Template Designer is simple to use, due to the nature of the template designer being in HTML editor format, a moderate level of technical comprehension is required. It is highly recommended you commit to completing all training before commencing.
How to Subscribe and Costs
The Template Designer is available through a paid subscription of $250 per user per month (ex GST). To request access to the tool, please contact our Customer Support Team via [email protected].
Training is available in the Morningstar Academy
