Adding Assets in AdviserLogic

Learn how to add assets in AdviserLogic

Overview

In AdviserLogic, assets encompass a spectrum of holdings owned by the client. This spans a variety of categories, including but not limited to Shares, Managed Portfolios, Vehicles, Family Homes, and Investment Properties.

If the client's assets exist on a Datafeed please follow the datafeed setup instructions for the relevant provider, to automate this process.

📌Note

To add Client Income, please go to the Fact Find > Financial > Income section. Similarly, Superannuation is added within Fact Find > Financial > Superannuation.




Adding Assets

To add an Asset in AdviserLogic, go to the Assets and Liabilities tab from the client's record and select the Add button from the top right of the window.



From the dropdown options select the type of asset you wish to add.



Adding Australian Shares

To add Australian Shares select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field. If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.


Select the Platform from the dropdown list.

Then enter the HIN number.




To see the Approved Product List (APL), select this button. The setup for APL can be found by following the APL setup steps.



To find the correct Australian share, simply enter the ASX code in the relevant field or start typing the description into the description field, a relevant list will populate from the first few letters typed, which can then be selected.



Choose to enter the shares as a Unit Balance, Dollar Value or Managed Externally from the options above the selection panel by checking the tick-box, add the Value, and the Balance date and Save.

Choose managed externally to exclude this asset from reporting.


The Australian Shares will now show in the client's Assets list and the correct dollar or unit value will be applied based on Morningstar's latest data.




Adding Managed Fund

To add Managed Fund select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field.

If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.



Select the Platform from the dropdown list. Then enter the Account Number.



To find the correct Managed Fund, simply enter the APIR code in the relevant field or start typing the description into the description field. A relevant list will populate from the first few letters typed, which can then be selected.



Choose to enter the shares as a Unit Balance, Dollar Value or Managed Externally from the options above the selection panel by checking the tick-box, add the Value, and the Balance date, and Save.

Choose managed externally to exclude this asset from reporting.


The Managed Fund Assets will now show in the client's Assets list and the correct dollar or unit value will be applied based on Morningstar's latest data.



Adding Bank Accounts

To add Bank Deposit select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.



Enter the Description and Account number on the left-side fields. On the right side fields enter the Account Balance, Account Number, and Balance date.


The Bank Deposit may also be marked as Primary Bank Account, Cash Account, Managed Externally, or Term Deposit.

Choose managed externally to exclude this asset from reporting.


Select Save and the Bank Deposit will be added to the client Assets list, the above categories applied will determine how the account is shown in Advice Documents.




Adding Offset Account

⚠️Important⚠️

In order to add an Offset account a liability must first be created. Please follow the How to Add a Liability instructions before following the setup instructions below for creating an Offset account.

To add an Offset Account select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

If you have not already done so, you will receive this message.



Select the Linked Loan (previously created Liability) that applies to the offset account being created.

Enter the BSB, Account Number, Interest Rate, Balance Amount and Balance Date. You may also mark the account as a Primary Bank Account, Managed Externally, or Term Deposit.

Choose managed externally to exclude this asset from reporting.



Adding an Investment Property

To add an Investment Property select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field.

If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.



Enter the relevant Investment Property Details in the fields of the left section.



In the right section, enter the relevant Additional and Valuation Details, including the percentage of the holding held by the nominated client. Income generated from renting the property can also be entered under the Rent heading.

💡Tip

Select Exclude From Report or Managed Externally to apply these conditions to the asset.

⚠️Important⚠️

If the Investment Property has an active loan, please enter this by following the How to Create a Liability instructions.




Adding a Family Home

To add a Family Home, select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field.

If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.



Enter the relevant Family Home Details in the fields of the left section.



In the right section, enter the relevant Purchase and Valuation Details, including the percentage of the holding held by the nominated client.

💡Tip

Select Managed Externally to exclude this asset from reporting, and select Save.


⚠️Important⚠️

If the Property has an active loan, please enter this by following the How to Create a Liability instructions.




Adding Custom Products

To add a Custom Product select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.

⚠️Important⚠️

In order to add a Custom Product it must first be created. Please follow the How to Setup Custom Product instructions before following the setup instructions below for creating a Custom Product in Assets.

If you have not already done so, There will be nothing to select from the drop-down and no values will be applied to the asset.


To add a Custom Product, select this category from the drop-down options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field.

If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.



Select the pre-created Custom Product from the dropdown menu.



Select the Platform from the drop-down list.

👉The Ticker will populate from the created Custom product and will be greyed out and uneditable once the custom product has been selected. - To change this you will have to go to Tools > Custom Products and edit the Ticker there.

🚧Note

The platform will not be editable if the Owner has not yet been assigned.



Enter the Unit Balance, The Balance Date and the Account Code, you may also select Exclude From Report or Managed Externally, to exclude the asset from reporting.

📌Note

  • The Datafeed Unit Balance and Balance Date will never be editable, as this information is created by the datafeed where the investment is datafed.

  • These fields are a good way to check if the datafeed is active, as the date should be current within a few days of the current date. If this is not the case, please check your datafeed credentials are current.



Select Save, the Custom Product will be saved into the client's asset list.





Adding Assets as Other

The Other option is suitable for non-indexed assets like vehicles and lifestyle assets that don't fall under the 'Property' category. That said, this asset category can also be used to enter non-typical platformed assets.

To add an Other asset select this category from the dropdown options on the Add button.


Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field.

If the client is partnered, there are options for both the Client or Partner individually or Joint holdings. Similarly, there are options to add the assets to the Superannuation entities or SMSF and Business entities.



Enter the Description

📌Note

  • Selecting this type of asset as a Lifestyle Asset by ticking that option will ensure that it is not calculated as part of the client's main holdings however will show within advice documents.

  • Exclude from Reports works with Investment Reports, and Investment Reports 2.0. Enabling Exclude from Report will keep them out of the reports generated from those locations.



To enter an asset that is platformed as Other, enter the description, as above, select the Platform, Enter the Balance Details and then apply the asset allocation in the left section of the window.

📌Note

The asset allocation will be added to the weight of asset allocation within your Advice except where you have marked it as a Lifestyle Asset. Lifestyle Assets are automatically ignored for Asset Allocation calculations.


Select Save and the asset will be added to the client's asset list.



Adding Industry Super

​⚠️Important⚠️

  • To add an Industry Super investment, an Industry Super Fund must first be created in Fact Find > Superannuation.

  • Please follow the How to Add Industry Superfund instructions prior to following the instructions below.

  • If you have not already done so, you will be unable to assign the owner.

To add an Industry Super Asset select this category from the drop-down options on the Add button.

Set the Owner of the asset from the drop-down options in the top-left field. This list will only populate existing Industry Super Funds.

📌Note

The Platform will be greyed out and preselected, based on the Industry Superfund you have chosen.



Select the Investment Option from the drop-down. Again, these options will be directly related to the pre-entered Industry Superfund.

Enter the Balance Detail. In the left section, the asset allocation can be entered or adjusted.

Select Save and the Industry Super asset will show under the Industry Super entity in the client's assets.
