Overview

We've introduced a new level of flexibility to your Compliance Fee Modelling with the release of Multi-Tiered Fee Calculations.

This feature gives you greater control over how fees are structured and disclosed, supporting both clarity for clients and flexibility for your practice.

You can now apply different percentage rates across defined balance tiers, enabling more precise, scalable, and client-aligned fee structures. It complements the existing Single-Tier model and is ideal for practices looking to reflect tiered pricing strategies within their advice framework.

Use cases include:

  • Applying a lower rate to balances above a certain threshold

  • Structuring fees to better align with service levels or asset size

  • Enhancing compliance transparency through detailed tier logic

Access

Navigate to Tools > Admin Tools > Compliance > Fee Structure to get started.

Select Add Fee Structure.

📢 New Feature! Single vs Multi-Tier Portfolio Advice Fee Structures

When setting up a new Portfolio Advice Fee Structure in AdviserLogic, you now have the flexibility to choose between a Single or Multi-Tier fee model, allowing you to tailor your approach to suit your practice and client needs.

When creating a new fee structure, select either Single or Multi-Tier from the options located to the right of the Fee Name field.

Single vs Multi-Tier Calculations

➡️ Single Tier

A flat percentage is applied to the entire portfolio balance, based on the tier the total amount falls into.

Example Fee Tiers:

  • $0–$100,000 → 3%

  • $100,001–$250,000 → 2%

  • $250,001–$500,000 → 1%

  • $500,001+ → 0.5%

Example:
If the portfolio balance is $300,000, the entire amount is charged at 1% (based on the $250,001–$500,000 tier).
Total Fee = $300,000 × 1% = $3,000

👉 Use Single-Tier when you want a simple, flat-rate structure that shifts once a client’s balance crosses a defined threshold.

Ideal for straightforward pricing models or smaller portfolios.

🔀 Multi-Tier

A tiered rate is applied to each portion of the portfolio balance within its respective range.

Example Fee Tiers

  • Tier 1: $0–$100,000 → 3%

  • Tier 2: $100,001–$250,000 → 2%

  • Tier 3: $250,001–$500,000 → 1%

  • Tier 4: $500,001+ → 0.5%

Example
For a balance of $300,000, the fee is calculated in parts:

  • $100,000 × 3% = $3,000

  • $150,000 × 2% = $3,000

  • $50,000 × 1% = $500
    Total Fee = $6,500

👉 Use Multi-Tier when you want a more scalable, equitable structure that rewards larger portfolios with lower marginal rates.

Perfect for scalable advice models and practices offering sliding-scale fees.

Fee Structure Configuration and Calculation Methods

The Fee Structure set up under Administrative Tools > Compliance > Fee Structure is linked to the Portfolio Advice Fees Setup found in Digital Advice > Scenarios > Settings > Portfolio Advice Fees Setup.

However, it's important to note that the calculation methods differ between the two areas:

  • Digital Advice supports multi-tiered fee calculations only, where different fee percentages apply to each portion of the portfolio balance.

  • In the next year’s fee projection, you can choose between single-tier (a flat percentage across the full balance) or multi-tiered calculations.

These differences in fee calculation methods may lead to variations in projected fees and should be carefully considered when you're reviewing or updating fee structures to ensure consistency and compliance.

This update helps rationalise your fee strategy while maintaining flexibility and compliance. If you need help choosing the right structure, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

.

Enter a Fee Name for your structure in the first field of the Set Portfolio Advice Fee Structure window.

This name should reflect the purpose or tier logic of the fee structure—for example, "Multi-Tier High Net Worth" or "Standard Flat Fee – SMA Clients".

The Structure Name will be visible across relevant system areas, helping your team identify and apply the correct fee configuration.

❓How to Set a Single or Multi-Tiered Portfolio Advice Fee Structure

Once you've entered a Fee Name (e.g. Example Tiered Fee Structure), you're ready to define your fee tiers based on asset balances. This section allows you to specify how fees are applied depending on the client’s portfolio size.

Define the Balance Range

Under the Ongoing Fee section:

  • From ($): Enter the lower limit of the asset tier for the chosen structure.

  • To ($): Enter the upper limit of the asset tier for the chosen structure.

Select the Amount Type

From the Amount Type dropdown, choose how the fee will be calculated:

  • % (per annum) – Charge a percentage of the client’s portfolio balance per year (e.g. 0.7% annually).

  • $ (per annum) – Charge a flat dollar fee per year regardless of balance.

Enter the Fee Amount

In the Fee field, enter the relevant rate:

  • If using %, enter a decimal (e.g. 0.7 for 0.7%)

  • If using $, enter the dollar value (e.g. 550)

Add Additional Tiers (Optional)

Select the plus icon to add additional balance ranges and apply different fee rates per tier.

Modify Your Fee Structure

You can easily update or reset your Portfolio Advice Fee Structure using the following options:

🔄 Reset

Select Reset to clear all entered values and return the structure to its default state. This is useful when you want to start fresh with a new setup.

🗑️ Delete

Use the rubbish bin icon at the end of each tier to delete that specific tier only — without affecting the rest of your fee structure.

💡Tip

Deleting a tier won’t automatically adjust the remaining tier thresholds, so double-check your ranges after editing.

Save Your Structure

Once all tiers and values are defined, select Save.

Your structure will now show as a distinct tile in the Fee Structure landing page and will be available for use in the Compliance module ➡️ Next Year fees
